SRIDHAR DESHMUKH – A Brief Profile

Sri Sridhar Deshmukh is a self made-man. He graduated with Sociology, Economics, and English but did not pursue further formal studies because he was dissatisfied with the prevailing system. Instead, he took to experiential learning of his own, during the course of which he also made a study of Allopathic Medicine, Anatomy & Physiology, Pharmacology, Physics and Cosmology besides Psychology and Philosophical Literature.

He was in business for a decade, and has voluntarily withdrawn from it and made a vocation of teaching. In areas where there are no established norms for certification, his acceptability as a faculty is due to a synthesis of his experiences, the techniques he has evolved, and his direct perceptual insights.

He has conducted orientation courses in Therapeutic Yoga for doctors besides training over a hundred yoga and alternative therapists. He has also conducted over two hundred workshops on Stress Management as well as Preventive Management of Coronary Heart Disease for corporate executives and professionals.

He has conducted:
Workshops on Health Management for the Directors of British Aerospace (BAe), the top management of Siemens, BPL, Reliance Group, East India Hotels Ltd., for the participants of International Masters Programme in Practising Management (IMPM), Global Leadership Training Programme-2000 at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.

Excessive stress can lead to psychosomatic ailments and unmanaged stress has been identified as contributory factor in various ailments like Hypertension, Ischemic Heart Disease, Insomnia and Tension Headache. Furthermore, excessive stress has been shown to reduce efficiency at work and impair social relations.

Yoga, the age-old Science of Mind has very effective answers to the problem of stress.

MASTRY is the condensation of the concepts and practices of Yoga specifically designed for managing stress.
MASTRY is a radical and new concept in Stress Management with multi-disciplinary inputs involving Yoga, Medical and Management principles. Sessions of practice are complemented with theory to enable its application with proper understanding.

What the Workshop intends to do?

Balancing Meditation
The core of MASTRY, Balancing Meditation consists of certain simple and effective Yogic Techniques specifically designed for managing stress. It is built around a scheme of three different Relaxation Techniques, each one of which operates at a different level. The Relaxation Techniques are complemented with practices designed to make them very effective. The components include Asanas, Nada Anusandhana, elements of Pranayama and Meditation. The simplicity of Balancing Meditation ensures that people of any age can practice easily.

  • Provides extremely deep rest to the Body-Mind complex, much more than what mere sleep can do.*
  • Regular practice of Balancing Meditation reduces sleeping time significantly by compensating with enhanced depth and quality of sleep.*
  • Increased alertness during waking hours leads to improved productivity.
  • The Asanas tone-up organ functions and soothe the nervous system.

*Basal Metabolic Rate, BMR is the amount of energy consumed while at rest. On an average, 6 hours of normal sleep has been shown to reduce BMR by about 9%, whereas 45 minutes of Balancing Meditation reduces BMR by over 28%
